Users Manual

Purpose This document describes the installation process of the TLCKMAJD Module in Stanley Black & Decker battery packs. NOTICE: Installation of this module may only be made by qualified Stanley Black & Decker Installer. This is not a field upgrade, and must be done at the Stanley Black & Decker factory. The user manual for the end product must include the following information in a prominent location (including English and French for Canada): To comply with FCC and Industry Canada RF radiation exposure limits for general population, the antenna used for this device must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. FCC Notice FCC ID: YJ7TLCKMAJD Compliance Statement (Part 15.19) This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: 1. This device may not cause harmful interference, and 2. This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Warning (Part 15.21) Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment. FCC Interference Statement (Part 15.105 (b)) This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one of the following measures: - Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. - Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. - Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. - Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. To reduce potential radio interference to other users, the antenna type and its gain should be so chosen that the equivalent isotropically radiated power (e.i.r.p.) is not more than that necessary for successful communication. Section 7.1.3 of RSS-GEN This Device complies with Industry Canada License-exempt RSS standard(s). Operation is subject to the following two conditions: 1) this device may not cause interference, and 2) this device must accept any interference, including interference that may cause undesired operation of the device. Installation Instructions: 1) Make sure the correct module is selected to match the capacity of the battery pack. 2) Place the module in the fixture and use the slider to bend the thermistor lead. 3) Mount the module assembly in the battery pack bracket. Make sure the three wires are routed properly for the SOC PCA. 4) Place the manual soldering fixture over the battery pack. 5) Solder B+ and B- leads to cell terminal tabs and the four cell tap locations to the module PCA. 6) Inspect all solder locations. 7) Place mica insulator over B- lead on the module PCA.

This transceiver is a complete RF module with an integral reference oscillator. External connections are provided for power and data communication. The following numbered items correspond to similarly numbered paragraphs in 15.212. Each item is a response to the requirements of that document. 1) The module does not contain integral RF shielding. Stanley Black & Decker will maintain control of the installation and distribution of this module for its own products and modules will not be sold separately. 2) All inputs are processed as data by the on-board microcontroller. The outside user has no direct control of transmit modulation. 3) There is a 3.3V voltage regulator on board that powers the radio transceiver. 4) An integral PCB – trace antenna is used with this module. This is in accordance with Part 15.203. 5) The module was tested in a host configuration and found to be compliant with Part 15 regulations. 6) An FCC ID label is affixed to each unit at the time of manufacture. Information is also clearly presented in the user guide about labeling requirements for the final assembly. 7) This unit is compliant with Part 15.247. Installation and other requirements are presented in the user guide to allow the unit to be correctly installed. 8) The unit is compliant with the RF exposure requirements of Parts 15.247 and 2.1091.
