The Cellular TDMA Multi Carrier Linear Amplifier (CMCLA), Part Number 44WA29, subject of this application for certification, is a base station linear power amplifier in the Cellular Frequency Band 869.04 – 893.97 MHz and does not contain or incorporate circuitry and devices for determining and stabilizing frequency.

Operational Description

1 APPLICANT: Lucent TechnologiesFCC ID: AS5CMP-33 EXHIBIT 8 Section 2.1033 (c)(10): Description of circuitry and devices for suppression of spurious radiation. Spurious emissions radiated from the FLEXENT Cellular TDMA Microcell J41698B-1 are suppressed by implementing sound Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) design practices extending from the circuit board level to the system level: 1) RF shielding on coaxial cables, 2) RF shielding “cans” mounted on the circuit packs, 3) effective grounding, 4) effective RF gasket mounted to the equipment door frame, 4) EMI filter on the AC power leads, and 5) effective simplex transmit and receive (TxSx and RxSx) bandpass filters for Cellular A-Band and B-Band. The filter characteristic plots are attached to this exhibit. Simplex Configuration A filter panel in a simplex configuration supports separate antennas for reception and for transmission as shown in the figure below. The physical separation of the antennas in simplex configurations provides isolation between the transmit and receive path. The isolation is at least 20 dB, therefore reducing the filtering required in the transmit path's receive band. Each filter panel also supports diversity receive (Rx0 and Rx1). This provides three independent RF paths: one transmit and two identical receive paths. Additionally, each of the three antenna ports contain a 30.0dB/ 30.0 dB bidirectional coupler for diagnostics. The simplex bandpass filters are passive devices and are realized by tuned cavities. 1 APPLICANT: Lucent TechnologiesFCC ID: AS5CMP-33 EXHIBIT 15 Section 2.1047 Measurements Required: Modulation Characteristics The TDMA modulation utilized by the Cellular TDMA Dual Radio Module (PDRM) 44WR54, subject of a separate application for certification under AS5CMP-32, is the standard π/4 differentially encoded quadrature phase shift keying (π/4 DQPSK). The modulation accuracy measurements were performed with all 3 TDMA time slots modulated with a pseudo-random bit stream. Measurements were made at the transmit antenna terminal with the single carrier power level set to +30.8 dBm (1.2 Watts), using the B- Band simplex transmit bandpass filter. The CDRM was tuned to 1) Cellular B-Band channel Ch 400, 882.00 MHz, and then to 2) the highest settable Cellular B-Band channel Ch 799, 893.97 MHz. The required modulation accuracy is specified in TIA/EIA/IS-138-A, July 1996, Section 3.3.2 Digital. The “minimum standard”, or limitation, is stated that the RMS error vector magnitude shall be less than 12.5%. Measurements were made with a Rohde & Schwarz Spectrum Analyzer 20 Hz to 26.5 GHz FSEM, Model 1079.8500.30, calibrated as required for ISO-9001 compliance. The measurement results and test set-up block diagram are included. RESULTS: The Cellular TDMA Multi Carrier Linear Amplifier, 44WA29, does not contain nor incorporate modulation circuitry. This test procedure demonstrates that it also does not degrade the modulation accuracy of the Cellular TDMA Dual Radio Module (CDRM) transceiver, 44WR54. The measurement data below demonstrates full compliance with the modulation accuracy requirements specified in TIA/EIA/IS- 138-A. The error vector magnitude is less than 12.5% at the Cellular Frequencies measured. 1 APPLICANT: Lucent TechnologiesFCC ID: AS5CMP-33 EXHIBIT 16 Section 2.1049 Measurements Required: Occupied Bandwidth In compliance with Section 2.1049(h), a single TDMA carrier was modulated by a pseudo-random data bit stream for all 3 time slots, and the Cellular TDMA Dual Radio Module (CDRM) 44WR54, subject of a separate application under AS5CMP-32, in combination with the Cellular TDMA Multi Carrier Linear Amplifier (CMCLA) 44WA29, subject of this application under AS5CMP-33, output power level was set to provide +30.8 dBm (1.2 Watts) at the transmit antenna terminal. Measurements were made both at the transmit antenna terminal and at the input to the CMCLA to demonstrate that the amplifier does not influence and does not alter the occupied bandwidth. Measurements were first made with the Cellular A- Band simplex transmit bandpass filter at 1) the lowest settable channel Ch 991 (869.04 MHz), 2) at mid band Ch 400 (882.00 MHz), and 3) at the highest settable A-Band channel Ch 716 (891.48 MHz). The second set of measurements were made with the Cellular B-Band simplex transmit bandpass filter at 1) the lowest settable B-Band channel Ch 334 (880.02 MHz), 2) at mid band Ch 500 (885.00 MHz), and 3) at the highest settable B-Band channel Ch 799 (893.97 MHz). The occupied bandwidth limitations and emission mask for a 30 kHz TDMA carrier, i.e., digital transceiver, is specified in Part 22.917(d)(1-3) as: Displacement from the Carrier Center Frequency Required Attenuation Below the Carrier Greater than 20 kHz up to 45 kHzAt least 26 dBc Greater than 45 kHz up to 90 kHzAt least 45 dBc Greater than 90 kHz up to 1 st harmonicAt least 60 dBc Or 43 + 10 log (Carrier Power in Watts) dBc Or whichever is the lesser attenuation Part 22.917 specifies that the measurement instrumentation resolution bandwidth be set to 300 Hz for displacements from the carrier center frequency equal to or less than 60 kHz. For the 30 kHz TDMA carrier, the spectrum analyzer resolution bandwidth was set to 300 Hz. The standard measurement procedure is to align the center of the carrier with the top of the spectrum analyzer display reticle (i.e., 0 dBm) and reference the required “attenuation below the carrier” (dBc) to the 0 dBm reference. Attenuation below the carrier is then read directly off the 0 dBm to -110 dBm scale. Using the 300 Hz resolution bandwidth requires displacing (offsetting) the 30 kHz modulated carrier from the 0 dBm reference line by: 10 log (carrier bandwidth/instrumentation resolution bandwidth) 10 log (30 kHz/300 Hz) = 20 dB offset 2 APPLICANT: Lucent TechnologiesFCC ID: AS5CMP-33 EXHIBIT 16 RESULTS: The attached occupied bandwidth plots demonstrate full compliance with the requirements of Part 22.917 for the Cellular A-Band and B-Band frequencies specified above. On the basis that all carriers measured were well within the required emission mask, the Cellular TDMA Multi Carrier Linear Amplifier (CMCLA) 44WA29 demonstrated full compliance with Part 22.917 for the occupied bandwidth requirements. It also demonstrated that it does not affect nor influence the occupied bandwidth of the associated Cellular TDMA Dual Radio Module transceiver.
