The PA is an Individual Carrier Linear Amplifier (ICLA). This PA shall be used in Lucent Technologies Inc. FLEXENT  Land Station Personal Communication Service (PCS) system using Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology, for use in Domestic Public PCS Telecommunication Service. The present PCS system will use single PA installed in a Radio Frequency Unit (RFU) cabinet. Each PA is designed to provide 24 Watts at the amplifier port connection (J4). The data summarized below is in the form presently used by the Commission’s Radio Equipment List. ManufacturerLucent Technologies Inc. ProductPower Amplifier Equipment IdentificationAS5CMP-42 Rules Part Number24(E) Frequency Range1930 – 1990 MHz Output Power .0002 to 24 Watts (-8 dBm to 43.8 dBm) Varied by Software Frequency Tolerance + ++ +/ // / - 0.05 ppm Emission Designator1M23G9W 2 Lucent Technologies Inc. – Proprietary Use pursuant to Company Instructions APPLICANT: Lucent TechnologiesFCC ID: AS5CMP-42 The FLEXENT PCS Radio Frequency Unit (RFU) Cabinet uses the PA. The PA is designed to the limitations specified in Part 24 subpart E. Whenever possible, the test procedures defined in CFR 47 Parts 2 and 24(E) were followed. Some of the characteristics cannot be tested using the requirements in CFR 47, for those characteristics, TIA/EIA-97-C was used as evaluation criteria in this application. The PA has a maximum RF power output of 43.8 dBm and the power level for this application also is 43.8 dBm. In FLEXENT PCS Radio Frequency Unit (RFU) Cabinet the PA gets input RF signal from a Predistortion CDMA Baseband Radio (PCBR) (FCC ID: AS5CMP-41) and PA. output power is filtered by a transmit filter for specific PCS bands. The PCBR is being co-filed with the PA. The typical output level necessary for the PCBR for maximum output from the Power Amplifier is 8.5 dBm. The actual power level delivered from the PCBR to Power Amplifier is under software control. The software control allows PA output level to within ± 0.1 dB across the PCS band. Filed herewith is FCC Form 731 (Application for Equipment Authorization – Radio Frequency Devices) and the required exhibits. These exhibits contain the technical data, and the required statements and documents for equipment certification. The Global Product Compliance Laboratory, of Lucent Technologies Inc., Bell Laboratories, will comply with any request for additional information should the need arise. Measurements were made respectively at each frequency where occupied Bandwidth measurements are to be performed. The use of the PA is for a single CDMA carrier. This requires that the RF power output level at J4 connector be calibrated for the specific channel of use. The test configuration, Figure 1A, allowed the measurement of RF output power for each channel investigated for Occupied Bandwidth. These included the upper, and lower band edges and at the center channels for 15MHz wide frequency blocks and upper, and lower band edge channels for 5 MHz wide frequency blocks. The TIA/EIA-97-C channel allocations are listed below: TIA/EIA-97-C channel allocation consists of following channel Blocks: Valid CDMA Channel s & Frequency Range BlockFrequency Bands Per FCC 24.229 MHz Channel No.MHz A (15 MHz )1930.000 – 1945.000 25 – 2751931.250 – 1943.750 D (5 MHz)1945.000 – 1950.000325 – 3751946.250 – 1948.750 B (15 MHz)1950.000 – 1965.000425 – 6751951.250 – 1963.750 E (5 MHz)1965.000 – 1970.000725 – 7751966.250 – 1968.750 F (5 MHz)1970.000 – 1975.000825 – 8751971.250 – 1973.750 C (15 MHz)1975.000 – 1990.000925 - 11751976.250 – 1988.750 The edge channels are 25 and 1175. The PA has a maximum RF power output of 24 Watts (43.8dBm) +2/-4 dB, it also has a minimum power output at the antenna terminals of 0.0002 Watts (-8 dBm) +2/-4 dB, across the PCS band (1930-1990 MHz). The signal applied to the PA is defined in Table 1.1. The power was reset to 43.8 dBm at each measurement frequency to verify the spectral performance at that power level. The attenuation range was also verified. The specific Frequencies and channels and set power level was documented on each “Occupied Bandwidth” sheet.
