The AT410 is connected to a smoke detector in a Senior Living facility. It provides a secondary signal which can help isolate the specific location of an emergency when the smoke detector goes off. Figure 1 shows the top and bottom view of AT410 Adaptable Transmitter. Figure 1: Top and Bottom View of AT410 Adaptable Transmitter Changing the Battery in the AT410 The AT410 uses a single 9V alkaline battery. You can replace the battery when the unit is installed on the ceiling or when it has been removed. To change the battery: 1. Open the battery compartment door by applying light pressure to the door and pushing it in the direction of the arrow (see Figure 1 for location of battery compartment door). 2. Remove the 9V battery from the battery compartment. 3. Disconnect the battery connectors from the battery and properly dispose of the used battery. 4. Connect the battery connectors to a new 9V alkaline battery. 5. Insert the battery into the battery compartment. 6. Slide the battery compartment door back into place. Note: This installation must be performed by a licensed electrician or a certified maintenance technician authorized to access the primary smoke detectors in the facility. Using the wiring diagrams in Figure 2, connect the AT410 to the smoke detector. You must provide the two wires that connect the AT410 to the smoke detector. Figure 2: Wiring Diagrams for AT410 2. To secure the wires, loosen the two screws on the bottom of the unit (see Figure 1), then insert the wires into the holes on the front of the unit (see Figure 1), then tighten the screws to hold the wires in place. 3. Attach the AT410 to the ceiling beside the smoke detector by opening the battery compartment and removing the battery (you do not have to disconnect the battery). Insert two screws into the holes in the battery compartment (see Figure 1) and tighten them onto the ceiling. 4. Install the battery into the battery compartment and close the door. Press and hold the Reset bar to enter Test mode. The Reset bar must be pressed and held until the communicator announces, “Start Test.” Continue holding the Reset bar down and then press the test button of the smoke detector until the red LED on the AT410 illuminates ( a transmitting signal is sent when the red LED is illuminating), the Lifeline Communicator will respond “Smoke Learned”. In order to confirm performance after installation is complete, place the Lifeline Communicator in Test Mode (as described above) and test the range by pressing the test button of each smoke detector connected to an AT410 one at a time in all locations within a unit/apartment. When the AT410 signal is received, the communicator will beep confirming proper performance. Your AT410 is designed to be used in and immediately around your home .next to the hard wired smoke detector. The exact area of coverage will vary from one home to another. It is important for you to know the effective range of your AT410. Contact your Lifeline Service Provider for assistance. For installation wiring diagram, see Figure 2 within this manual. The AT410 is a supervised unit when used with Lifeline Communicator Models 6600, 6600S, 6700, or 9500. NOTE If the Response Center receives a Low Battery Button signal, Lifeline recommends that the 9-volt battery be replaced as soon as possible.
