It is a Bluetooth dongle for the iPOD. The radio utilizes an integral antenna. This configuration satisfies the requirements of 47 CFR 15.203. The technical reports and exhibits demonstrate compliance with FCC rules 47 CFR 15.247 as a DTS transmitter. It is also an application for the certification of Logitech’s F-0415A transmitter, FCC ID: DZLF0415A. It is a Bluetooth dongle for generic MP3 players. The radio utilizes an integral antenna. This configuration satisfies the requirements of 47 CFR 15.203. The technical reports and exhibits demonstrate compliance with FCC rules 47 CFR 15.247 as a DTS transmitter. The F-0415A is a Bluetooth dongle that connects to any MP3 player. The F-0397A is a Bluetooth dongle that only connects to Apple Computer’s iPod MP3 player. Both dongles provide wireless connectivity to Bluetooth headphones. Both models are identical except for the geometry of the audio connector that interfaces to the host device. Northwest EMC TCB Approval Opinion Revision 05//02 LABT0125 Findings Item The conducted emissions in the report should be organized the same as the radiated spurious emissions. Resolution Report has been corrected. Item The technical report states the direct connect tests were performed on the F-0415A, the data in the report states the F-0397A was used for direct connect tests. Resolution Report has been corrected. Item The technical report states battery power was used in many of the test descriptions and data sheets, yet there is an AC adapter listed in the description and appears in the photos Resolution Report is correct, additional information has been provided. Item The user manual is missing the statements required for Part 15 devices: Sec. 15.21 Information to user. The users manual or instruction manual for an intentional or unintentional radiator shall caution the user that changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment. Sec. 15.19 Labelling requirements. (a) In addition to the requirements in part 2 of this chapter, a device subject to certification, or verification shall be labelled Resolution Information is actually there on page 2. Per 15.203, the antenna is internal and permanently attached. It is not intended to be serviced by the customer and is, therefore only serviceable by Logitech, Inc. authorized personnel. The antenna is a monopole whip-antenna, L shaped, with 3.03dBi maximum gain.
Compliance with 47 CFR 15.247(i) “Systems operating under the provisions of this section shall be operated in a manner that ensures that the public is not exposed to radio frequency energy levels in excess of the Commission's guidelines. See § 1.1307(b)(1) of this chapter.” The EUT is a Bluetooth dongle for generic MP3 players, some of which can be body-worn. It can be considered a portable transmitter per 47 CFR 2.1093(b). The antenna is internal to the unit and has 3.03 dBi gain. The maximum peak conducted output power is 2.87 mW. The maximum peak power is 5.77 mW (EIRP) for FCC ID: DZLF0415A. The transmit frequency is 2402 to 2480 MHz, therefore the EUT does not require routine SAR evaluation per “TCB Exclusions List”, footnote 3 (dated July 17, 2002). See below: The exposure category is “General Population”. The distance is < 2.5 cm. Therefore the “Low Threshold” is 24.5 mW (EIRP) – above which routine SAR evaluation would be required. Since the maximum peak power of the EUT is 5.77 mW (peak EIRP), routine SAR evaluation is not required. The applicant’s Bluetooth radio, FCC ID: DZLF0415A, is compliant with the requirements of 15.247(i).
