980-000010-000R1.01 eLink Tag Tester - User Guide Computer Serial Interface (Future option) 9V Alkaline Battery Battery Cover Replace only with Alkaline Battery 1 Tag Tester Functions 2 Rear View And Battery Replacement The Tag Tester performs the following functions: • Reads the unique ID of a tag, by generating an RF field (Tag In Field – TIF). • Tests the Tamper mechanism of a tag (Tag Initiated Communications – TIC). • Reads the battery status for the tag (Good or bad only). Tag Tamper Test Indicator 2 Lines by 12 Characters backlit Liquid Crystal Display Scroll Down Button Scroll Up Button Cancel Entry and Power OFF Button Accept Entry, Power ON and Backlight Button Tag ID Test Indicator 6” Field Pattern Tag is best read about 6” under Tester. Suite 100 - 13551 Commerce Parkway Richmond, BC Canada V6V 2L1 1-800-667-9689 (North America only) Telephone +1 (604) 207-7760 Hold down the “Accept” button for one second Press “Accept” for testing a tag If Tag is not detected in 30 seconds If Tag is detected, and the tag battery is low Operate the Tamper mechanism on the tag Tamper mechanism failed Begin next Test Tamper Detected Approximately 2 seconds after power up The Tester automatically powers down after 60 seconds of inactivity. Pressing the “Cancel” button for 3 seconds also turns off the unit. Tag Tester 9V Battery low condition is reported on the display for 2 seconds, after which the screen will revert back to the previous function. Holding down the “Accept” button for 3 seconds enables the display backlight. NOTICE Any changes or modifications to the eLink Tag Tester that have not been approved by EXI Wireless Systems Inc. could void the user’s authority to operate this device.
