Users Manual

Please review the installation guide before beginning the installation, particularly the wiring diagram and the list of programming options. Prior to installation please be sure that all hardware components required to install the AS-1200 are in the box. This is a list of components included in the AS-1200 kit: • 1 - AS-1200 control unit • 1 - 2 button / 3 channel remote transmitter • 1 - 5 Pin 14 AWG harness (Ignition harness) • 1 - 7 Pin 18 AWG harness (Main harness) • 1 - 4 Pin / 2 Wire 18 AWG harness (Accessories) • 1 Antenna • 1 Parts Bag (hood switch, valet switch, connector, wires) • User guide, tech bulletins. NOTICE: THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY RADIO OR TV INTERFERENCE CAUSED BY UNAUTHORIZED MODIFICATIONS TO THIS EQUIPMENT. SUCH MODIFICATIONS COULD VOID THE USER’S AUTHORITY TO OPERATE THE EQUIPMENT. INSTALLATION POINTS TO REMEMBER • When working on a vehicle always leave a window open. • Remove courtesy light fuse if possible to prevent battery drain. • Never Install control unit where it could interfere with normal operation or obstruct service technicians. • Do not disconnect the battery on vehicles equipped with air bags and anti-theft radios. • Always use a grommet when running wires into the engine compartment. Never run wires through bare or sharp metal. • Always solder and tape all connections. • Never ground control unit to vehicle steering column. • Make sure that vehicles equipped with automatic transmission do not start while in any of the drive gears. TRANSMITTER CODE LEARNING AS-1200 transmitters do not come pre- programmed. They must be “CODE LEARNED” at the time of installation. The unit will hold up to 4 transmitter codes in memory. To program a new transmitter: 1. Raise the hood 2. Turn valet switch “off”. 3. Turn ignition “on”. 4. Turn valet switch “on”.Parking lights will turn on for 5 seconds. 5. Press either button on transmitter within 5 seconds of step 4. (lights will flash 5 times fast, and 2 times slow)

Each code has a seperate input. The alarm chip generates a pulse train for each address which in turn varies the frequency of the crystal controlled oscillator. As best as I can tell the only difference in this unit and most pulse modulated transmitters is that this one is FM. Attached is a corrected Declaration of Conformity with a phone number. Attached is wiring diagram that shows the ralationship between the RF portion and the Logic & Power Module. Tenney Temperature Chamber TEST PROCEDURE GENERAL: This report shall NOT be reproduced except in full without the written approval of TIMCO ENGINEERING, INC. RADIATION INTERFERENCE: The test procedure used was ANSI STANDARD C63.4-1992 using a HEWLETT PACKARD spectrum analyzer with a prese- lector. The bandwidth of the spectrum analyzer was 100 kHz with an appropriate sweep speed. The analyzer was calibrated in dB above a microvolt at the output of the antenna. The resolution bandwidth was 100KHz and the video bandwidth was 300KHz. The ambient temperature of the UUT was 82.3oF with a humidity of 40%. FORMULA OF CONVERSION FACTORS: The Field Strength at 3m was estab- lished by adding the meter reading of the spectrum analyzer (which is set to read in units of dBuV) to the antenna correction factor sup- plied by the antenna manufacturer. The antenna correction factors are stated in terms of dB. The gain of the Preselector was accounted for in the Spectrum Analyzer Meter Reading. ANSI STANDARD C63.4-1992 10.1.7 MEASUREMENT PROCEDURES: The UUT was placed on a table 80 cm high and with dimensions of 1m by 1.5m. The UUT was placed in the center of the table. The table used for radiat- ed measurements is capable of continuous rotation. The spectrum was scanned from 30 MHz to 10th harmonic of the fundamental. Peak readings were taken in three (3) orthogonal planes and the high- est readings were converted to average readings based on the duration of "ON" time. Measurements were made by TIMCO ENGINEERING INC. at the registered open field test site located at 6051 N.W. 19th Lane, Gainesville, Fl 32605. When an emission was found, the table was rotated to produce the maximum signal strength. At this point, the antenna was raised and lowered from 1m to 4m. The antenna was placed in both the horizontal and vertical planes. RULES:2.1033(b)(4) CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION This unit is a low power security device transciever. In the receive mode the signal comes into the dual conversion super hetrodyne receiver to the RF amplifier Q6/Q5. From the RF amplifier the signal is coupled through a tuned circuit L13/C28 and is coupled through C24 to the base of the mixer Q4. The injection for the 1st mixer starts with the crystal oscillator Q10. The output of Q10 is coupled through a bandpass network to the base of the X3 multiplier Q9. Q9 drives a tuned circuit L15/C48 and is coupled to the mixer through C41. The output of the mixer is connected to a 10.7MHz crystal fliter and the output of the filter is connected to ta IF amplifier Q8. Q8 drives the intregrated circuit receiver U1. When the transmitter is manually turned onwith the pushbutton the data FM modulates the crystal oscillator Q1. Q1 is connected to the tuned circuit L1/C7 with a coupling cap C10 to the tuned circuit L6/C17 and then through C11 to the base 3X multiplier Q2. The output of Q2 is fed through a double tuned circuit to the base of the 2nd 3X multipli- er Q3. From Q3 is fed through a tuned circuit L3/C9 to a low pass filter C6, L4, and L8 to the aantenna. ANTENNA & GROUND: This unit uses the small inductor as the antenna. There is no provision for an external antenna.
