Welcome to HUAWEI Quick Start Guide HUAWEI H882L Phone at a Glance All the pictures in this guide are for your reference only. Your phone's actual display features may be different to those described here, depending on its software version. Key Functions at Your Fingertips โ€ข Press and hold to power on your mobile phone. โ€ข When your mobile phone is powered on, press and hold this button to display the options menu. You can then choose to power off the phone or perform shortcut operations. โ€ข Press to lock the screen when your mobile phone is active. Touch to open the menu on an active screen. โ€ข Touch to return to the Home screen. โ€ข Touch and hold to display recently used applications. Headset jackPower Charger/ Data port Speaker Earpiece Volume key Back Home Menu Front camera Status indicator Rear camera Flashlight Inserting a SIM card To install a SIM card, perform the operations shown in the following figures. 1. Remove the battery cover. 2. Insert the SIM card into the SIM card slot with its metal contacts facing down. Installing the microSD card You can insert a microSD card to expand your phone's storage capacity. To do so, perform the operations shown in the following figure. To remove the microSD card: 1. On the home screen, touch > Settings and then the All tab. 2. Touch Storage > Unmount SD card. 3. Carefully remove the microSD card. โ€ข Touch to return to the previous screen or exit the application you are running. โ€ข Touch to hide the keyboard. Installing the battery To install the battery, perform the operations shown in the following figures. 1. Align the battery's metal contacts with those at the bottom of the battery compartment (refer to position a in the preceding figure). 2. Press the other end of the battery (position b in the preceding figure) against your phone to fix it to the battery compartment. 3. Close the battery cover. Charging the battery 1. Connect your charger to the provided USB cable. 2. Connect the charger to a power outlet. 3. Connect your phone to the USB cable to start charging. Battery indicator light The battery indicator shows your phone's battery level. โ€ข Blinking red: The battery level is lower than 10%. โ€ข Steady red (when charging): The battery level is lower than 10%. โ€ข Steady yellow (when charging): The battery level is higher than 10%. a b โ€ข Steady green (when charging): The battery level is almost or already full. The charging is complete when the screen shows that the battery level is 100%. Gestures Touch: Touch to select an item or open an application. Touch and hold: Touch and leave your finger on the screen for 2 seconds or longer. You can touch and hold an application, a widget, or a blank area to display the related option menu. Flick: Where applicable, swipe your finger in the direction you want the screen to move. For example, you can flick left or right across the notification panel to dismiss a notification. Drag: Touch and hold an item and then drag it to another position. You can re-arrange icons on the home screen this way. Home Screen You can set up the Home screen according to your own preferences, for example by adding a shortcut or a widget to your Home screen, changing the wallpaper, or setting the number of Home screen extensions. To return to the Home screen from any of its extensions, press . When a new notification icon appears on the notification bar, place your finger on the notification bar and flick down to open the notification panel. Moving an Application Icon 1. On the Home screen, touch and hold the icon you want to move. 2. Drag the icon to the desired location and release it. To move additional icons, repeat the preceding steps. Pinch: Pinch two fingers together to zoom out or stretch them apart to zoom in on a map, web page, or picture. 10:23 Copying contacts 1. On the home screen, touch > People. 2. On the People screen, touch . 3. Touch Manage contacts > Copy contacts. 4. From the displayed option menu, select where the contacts you wish to copy are from. 5. Touch the contact you wish to copy or touch Select all to select all contacts. 6. Touch Copy and select the account to which you wish to copy the contacts. Adding a Contact 1. In the contact list, touch . 2. From the screen displayed, create a contact in your mobile phone, SIM card or your account. Add a new account if you do not have one. 3. Enter the contact's name, and then add detailed information such as phone numbers and address. 4. Touch DONE to save the contact information. To save a contact from your call log, touch and hold the desired phone number to display the options menu, and then touch Add to contacts. Smart dialing Smart dialing lets you quickly find contacts by entering their names or numbers. 1. On the home screen, touch > Phone. 2. Enter a phone number or contact name. Matching contacts in your phone and phone numbers in your call log are then displayed in a list. 3. From the list, select the contact you wish to call. 4. To end the call, touch . Creating and Sending a Multimedia Message You can use multimedia messages to make everyday communications very special. You can record a message and send it as an audio file, for example, sing "Happy Birthday" and send it to a friend, or send a slideshow of photographs of a special event. The possibilities are enormous. 1. Touch > Messaging, then . 2. Enter a phone number in the To field, or touch to select a contact from People. 3. Touch the composition text box to start composing your message. 4. Perform the following steps to convert a text message into a multimedia message: โ€ข Touch > Add subject to add the message subject. Your mobile phone is now in multimedia message mode. โ€ข Touch to attach a picture, an audio file, or a video clip to the message. 5. When you are ready to send the message, touch Send MMS.
