WS4969 Wireless KeyOperating InstructionsThe WS4969 is a four-button wireless key. This key allows you to arm, dis-arm and also offers other functions with the convenience of wireless porta-bility. Together with your installer, you can decide which functions you wishto have accessible from your portable key.To activate, press and hold the appropriate button for approximately 1 sec-ond*. The LED located between buttons 1 and 2 will confirm that a signalhas been sent to the control panel receiver.*False Alarm PreventionBy default, the key is a panic key. It will require the user to press and hold for approximately 3 seconds. This was designed to reduce the possibil-ity of a false alarm.NOTE: Signals will not be received if the key is not within the range of the wireless receiver. The default functions are as follows: Stay ArmingPress this button to arm your system in the Stay mode. All perimeter zoneswill be armed, such as all window and door contacts, but the interior zoneswill remain inactive, allowing you to stay on the premises without setting offan alarm.Away ArmingPress this button to arm your system in the Away mode. Both the interiorand exterior zones will be armed, allowing you to exit the premises.DisarmPress this button to disarm your system. You do not have to enter youraccess code when you use the key to disarm the system.PanicPress this button to notify your central monitoring station of a situationrequiring the police, such as a break-in.FlashlightPress and hold the centre button to activate the flashlight. Other options are available. Please discuss all WS4969 options with your installer in order toprogram the best possible combination to suit your needs. Replacing the BatteriesBattery life depends on use of the flashlight feature. The batteryshould last 3 to 6 years with normal operation and usage. Duringeach button press the key will send the status of its battery to the control panel receiver. If the battery is low the trouble light on thecontrols panel's keypad will turn ON.To replace the battery, remove the screw located on the back of the unit. Replace both bat-teries with Panasonic CR-2032 lithium batteries (see diagram).NOTE: The polarity of the battery must be observed, as shown in the diagram above. Improperhandling of lithium batteries may result in heat generation, explosion or fire, which may lead to personal injuries. WARNING: DANGER OF EXPLOSION IF BA TTERIES ARE INSTALLED INCORRECTLY. REPLACE ONLY WITH THE SAME OR E QUIVALENT TYPE RECOMMENDED BY THE MANUFACTURER. Keep away from small children . If batteries are swallowed, promptly see a doctor. Disposal of used batteries must be made in accordance with the waste recovery and recy-cling regulations in your area. Do not try to recharge these batteries. Operational Description

WS4969 Theory of operation Rev 2, 10/3/05 Jay Stone, Secure Wireless Inc. The WS4969 is a low power hand held RF remote control transmitter for controlling a home security system by transmission of ASK / OOK control signals. The device operates at a single fixed frequency of 433.92 MHz, and is powered by a pair of CR2032 batteries which are connected in series for a nominal operating voltage of 6 volts DC. For the following description, please refer to the WS4969 schematic and block diagram. Transmission is activated by pressing one of the four buttons which will close SW1, SW2, SW3 or SW4. These switches are read by the processor, U1, which will initiate transmission. If the delay mode has been disabled, transmission will begin almost immediately when SW1, SW2 or SW3 is pressed. If the delay feature has not been disabled, SW1, SW2 or SW3 must be held for approximately 1 second before transmission will begin. The “panic button”, SW4 must always be held down for approximately 3 seconds before transmission will begin. The center button, SW5, operates the ultra-bright LED flashlight feature. No RF transmission is sent when this button is pressed. When switches are closed and read by U1, U1 will enable the Red LED, Ultra Bright LED, or the RF oscillator as required. To transmit RF at 433.92 MHz, the processor will switch the data output pin high. This will bias the RF SAW oscillator on and produce RF transmission at 433.92 MHz until the data output pin goes low, which will cause oscillation to stop. By switching this data output high and low, ASK / OOK data is transmitted at 433.92 MHz. RF is radiated from a strip antenna connected to the collector of Q1. All tuning and testing of this device are performed at the factory. There are no adjustments accessible to the user.
