Regulatory Information Notice to Users: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. In addition any modifications not expressly approved by SynapSense Corporation for compliance will void the user’s authority to to operate the equipment. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference in which case the user will be required to correct the interference at his own expense. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference, including interference that may cause undesired operation of the device. To reduce potential radio interference to other users, the antenna type and its gain should be so chosen that the equivalent isotropically radiated power (e.i.r.p.) is not more than that permitted for successful communication. To protect the user from excessive RF exposure the operator must maintain a safe distance of 20 cm from the device during operation. FCC and Industry Canada Compliance Statement: This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules and Industry Canada RSS-210 Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment. The antenna(s) used for this transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. Antenna Statement: Only the antenna supplied with this unit may be used. Any attempt to modify this antenna or substitute a different antenna by any means shall void the warranty and will void the FCC approval to operate this equipment. In the event an antenna is broken, a replacement antenna may be obtained by contacting the Product Support Center listed in the warranty section of this manual. CE Statement: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits of the European Council Directive on the approximation of the law of the member states relating to electromagnetic compatibility (89/336/EEC) according to EN 55022 Class B. Industry Canada Equipment Notice: The Industry Canada certification identifies certified equipment. This certification means that the equipment meets certain telecommunications network protective, operational and safety requirements as prescribed in the appropriate Terminal Equipment Technical Document(s). Before installing this equipment, users should ensure that it is permissible to be connected to the facilities of the local telecommunications company. The equipment must also be installed using an acceptable method of connection. This presentation may be particularly important in rural areas. Caution: Users should not attempt to make such connections themselves, but should contact the appropriate electric inspection authority or electrician, as appropriate. This device has been designed to operate with the antennas listed below, and having a maximum gain of 2.2 dBi. Antennas not included in this list or having a gain greater than 2.2 dBi are strictly prohibited for use with this device. The required antenna impedance is 50 ohms. This product is an 802.15.4 compliant radio module and can be used in SynapSense wireless sensor modules. I hereby declare that the following conditions have been met. a. The radio elements of the modular transmitter must have their own shielding. The physical crystal and tuning capacitors may be located external to the shielded radio elements. b. The modular transmitter must have buffered modulation/data inputs (if such inputs are provided) to ensure that the module will comply with part 15 requirements under conditions of excessive data rates or over-modulation. c. The modular transmitter must have its own power supply regulation. d. The modular transmitter must comply with the antenna and transmission system requirements of §§15.203, 15.204(b) and 15.204(c). The antenna must either be permanently attached or employ a “unique” antenna coupler (at all connections between the module and the antenna, including the cable). The “professional installation” provision of §15.203 is not applicable to modules but can apply to limited modular approvals under paragraph (b) of this section. e. The modular transmitter must be tested in a stand-alone configuration, i.e., the module must not be inside another device during testing for compliance with part 15 requirements. Unless the transmitter module will be battery powered, it must comply with the AC line conducted requirements found in §15.207. AC or DC power lines and data input/output lines connected to the module must not contain ferrites, unless they will be marketed with the module (see §15.27(a)). The length of these lines shall be the length typical of actual use or, if that length is unknown, at least 10 centimeters to insure that there is no coupling between the case of the module and supporting equipment. Any accessories, peripherals, or support equipment connected to the module during testing shall be unmodified and commercially available (see §15.31(i)). f. The modular transmitter must be equipped with either a permanently affixed label or must be capable of electronically displaying its FCC identification number. g. The modular transmitter must comply with any specific rules or operating requirements that ordinarily apply to a complete transmitter and the manufacturer must provide adequate instructions along with the module to explain any such requirements. A copy of these instructions must be included in the application for equipment authorization. h. The modular transmitter must comply with any applicable RF exposure requirements in its final configuration. This product is for the exclusive use of SynapSense and is not for resale.
