SafeSea V100 User Manual 4 Version 0A.00 21/07/2011 Basic Operation • In emergency ensure the yellow Lithium primary battery is fitted. • Before operation break off the red security tag from the battery. • Turn on by pressing the key • The radio will turn on with the distress and calling channel, 16, already selected • Use the PTT key to transmit • Use the ▲ and ▼ keys to select the required channel • Use the VOL key followed by the ▲ and ▼ keys to adjust the speaker volume • Use the SQ key followed by the ▲ and ▼ keys to adjust the squelch (muting) level To transmit a MAY DAY call the following procedure should be followed. Ensure the transmitter is turned on, channel 16 is selected and the PTT key is pressed. Announce the following clearly into the radio MAYDAY - MAYDAY - MAYDAY This is [Ship’s Name] - This is [Ship’s Name] - This is [Ship’s Name] MAYDAY [Ship’s Name or Call Sign] Position............ Registration No 6627101 Vat No 938 4374 89 Registered Office 27 New Dover Road Canterbury Kent CT1 3DN FCC ID: XYEV100 Attestation Statement – Ocean Signal V100 VHF Handportable (GMDSS) Dear Sir, Ocean Signal hereby request that the SafeSea ® V100 VHF survival craft portable two way radiotelephone apparatus are approved under part 80.1101(c)(7) and 80.271 of the Commissions rules contained in CFR47, for use on SOLAS ships as part of the GMDSS as well as for voluntary fit by other users. There are two variants of the V100 which are identical with the exception of an accessory socket fitted for the connection of external devices such as headsets, helmets, etc. All testing was carried out on the accessory socket version. Both versions are identified under the generic product code of SafeSea V100. The SafeSea V100 has been tested in accordance with IEC61097-12 and IEC60945 and is compliant with IMO resolutions A.809(19), as amended by MSC149(77) and A.694(17). Adjustment of transmitter parameters and other RF tune-up is not possible or allowed by service personnel in the field. Ocean Signal service policy will require PCB replacement and return of the exchanged PCB to the factory if PCB level servicing is required. For this reason, there is no tune-up procedure available as required by CFR47 part 2.1033(c)(9). Likewise the DC voltage to the final amplifier required by 2.1033(c)(8) is not provided. SafeSea V100 User Manual 6 Version 0A.00 21/07/2011 General Exposure to RF Electromagnetic Energy This product has been evaluated for compliance with the FCC RF exposure limits given in CFR 47 part 1.307(b) at a distance of greater than 2.5cm. Do not operate this radio without the antenna attached or with a damaged antenna. Always operate the radio with the antenna at least 2.5cm (1inch) away from your head and do not transmit for more than 50% of the total time the radio is used. Use of the radio in the body worn configuration with accessories is limited to ‘Occupational Use’ only. Do not transmit for more than 50% of the total time the radio is used. The use of this radio may be covered by licensing requirements in the country of use. Please check with your local regulatory body before use.
